LA JOLLA, Calif. — The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) has named UC San Diego's
Katherine Kim as the conference's Fencer of the Week. The honor comes on the heels of last weekend's West Invitational.
Kim went 15-5 in her bouts. She had two wins over fellow 2025 All-Americans, including one over last year's NCAA champion in her weapon. As a team the Triton women went 4-5, with four of the losses coming to ranked teams. Kim's women's foil squad was 5-4.
The West Invitational was hosted on the Air Force campus in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The event was the Tritons' first collegiate team competition of the season.
Kim is a sophomore from Tustin, California, majoring in human biology at Sixth College. The foilist finished seventh at the 2025 National Collegiate Fencing Championships to earn Second Team All-American honors and is the reigning MPSF Female Fencer of the Year.
The Tritons will be back in action Jan. 16-17 at the Philadelphia Invitational in Pennsylvania.
