LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego junior
Leo Beath has been named The Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The honor is the first for Beath and the first for a Triton over the young season's two weeks.
Beath averaged 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds leading the Tritons to a pair of wins last week. He shot 58.3% (14-24) and knocked down six of 13 three-point tries. His five three-pointers in Wednesday's win at Fresno State set a career high. His 17 points per game average is sixth in the conference.
UC San Diego is 4-0, matching the program's best Division I start (2021, 2023). Dating back to January, the Tritons have won 15 consecutive regular season games.
Beath and the Tritons will return to action next week to compete in the Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational at Walt Disney World. First up, the Tritons will take on Temple at 4:30 p.m. ET/1:30 PT on Monday, Nov. 24. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU, with a link to live stats on UCSDTritons.com.
