The Hornets maintained a double-digit lead at 47-32 with under three minutes to play before UC San Diego found its rhythm. The Tritons scored eight unanswered to end the quarter and make it 47-40 at the final quarter break.

UC San Diego carried the momentum into the final period, with a three from Rosa Smith and a layup by Maxie to make it a one possession game, 47-45. Sacramento State countered with a 9-2 scoring run to lead, 56-47, before the Tritons mounted a comeback once again.
