RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Triton men's soccer earned its third-straight draw on Wednesday night with a 2-2 result at UC Riverside. The Tritons have tied all three of their Big West matches so far this season.
Â
Sean Ueda and
Evan Wellerstein grabbed the goals for the Tritons, who came back from deficits twice in the match.
Nate Morgan registered both assists.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC Riverside opened the scoring in the 18th minute before Ueda equalized just three minutes later. The hosts then found the back of the net again in the 37th minute to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Â
The Tritons wasted no time leveling the score again after the break. Wellerstein's goal came in the 50th minute.
Â
Both teams spent the rest of the half searching for a winner, but time eventually ran out with the score still knotted at two. The Tritons had more shots in both the second half and the match, but their two goals were their only two shots on target.
Â
The Highlanders had a 7-2 advantage in shots on frame. The home side's hopes of going in front took a hit in the 84th minute when a Highlander player received a red card, forcing UC Riverside to play a man down for the final six minutes of the match.

QUOTABLE
"It was a strange match tonight," head coach
Jon Pascale said. "Both teams had stretches where they were in control. I thought our team showed great resilience equalizing twice. We were on the front foot at the end of the match and had a strong chance of getting the winner."
