UC San Diego Formally Welcomes Andy Fee as Athletics Director

LA JOLLA, Calif. – New UC San Diego Director of Athletics Andy Fee was formally introduced Thursday afternoon to a packed crowd of friends staff, and media members in LionTree Arena's Triton Conference Room. Named to the role on September 10, Fee is just the fourth Director of Athletics in program history.

"What an exciting day for myself and my family. This really is home, this really is family," Fee said. "Thank you for being here as we embark on a new chapter of UC San Diego Athletics. I want to express my gratitude to Chancellor Khosla for his confidence in selecting me to serve. My vision for UC San Diego Athletics: we will position ourselves to compete as the premier non-football athletic department in the country. This isn't just an aspiration; this is our expectation."

"I'm extremely thrilled about this exciting era of Triton Athletics," said UC San Diego Chancellor Pradeep Khosla. "Andy brings about two decades of distinguished experience in intercollegiate sports, a record of building winning programs, and a deep appreciation for values that define UC San Diego. He is the ideal leader for our athletics program as we look to reach greater heights in the seasons to come. With his vision and his guidance, I'm confident our teams will continue to thrive and make our university proud."

"Leading the charge will be our basketball programs, which are critical to the financial and competitive well-being of our entire athletic department," Fee said. "Strong basketball programs elevate every sport and create the visibility and resources we need to excel across our programs."

Complete remarks from both Fee and Khosla can be seen below.
