Allard Previews Season at Wooden Award Tip-Off Luncheon

Annual event takes place at Los Angeles Athletic Club

LOS ANGELES — With the start of a new basketball season rapidly approaching, UC San Diego men's basketball head coach Clint Allard '08 appeared at the 2025 John R. Wooden Award Tip-Off Luncheon, held Tuesday at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Allard was one of 15 area Division I coaches who spoke at the event as each previewed his team and the upcoming season.

"Last season was special, and that group came together and we created memories that will last a lifetime," Allard remarked. "As for our team, 10 new faces, a new coaching staff...we've got a lot to teach and a lot to learn. But we've got the right group of guys in the building and I'm excited to see what we can build."

The Los Angeles Athletic Club annually presents the John Wooden Award, with this season marking the 50th anniversary of the award. The LAAC also presents the Wooden Award Legends of Coaching honor each year.

The Tritons open their season with an exhibition vs. Cal State San Marcos on Oct. 24 (tickets are $5). The regular season opener is set for Nov. 3, one of three games UC San Diego will play in LionTree Arena next month.
