LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego concluded its non-conference schedule with a 1-0 setback to Pacific on Youth Day at Triton Soccer Stadium Sunday afternoon. The Tritons dominated in time of possession and out-shot the Tigers, 14-3, but UOP's Sierah McCallum came off the bench and netted the game's lone goal in the 81st minute to put the visitors on top.

With the setback, the Tritons (2-6-2) had their three-match unbeaten streak snapped; Pacific improved to 2-7-1 with the road win – its first of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Neither team broke through in the first half, though UC San Diego controlled the run of play. The Tritons possessed for 59% of the action and held a 3-1 shots advantage over the first 45 minutes. Neither goalkeeper – UC San Diego's
Bella Barretto or Pacific's Sierra Schwarz –  needed to make a save.

After halftime, the Tritons ratcheted up the offensive pressure. UC San Diego out-shot Pacific, 11-2, in the second half. UC San Diego created several scoring chances, but Schwarz made six saves.

On the other end, Pacific had a good scoring chance off a corner in the 59th minute, but Barretto made the stop.

However, in the 81st minute, McCallum broke through with the lone goal of the match.

- Freshman Kat Harris made her first career start, logging all 90 minutes on the back line.
- UC San Diego earned seven corner kicks as compared to three for the Tigers.
- Sunday was the second Division I meeting between the Tritons and Tigers, with Pacific now leading the series, 1-0-1. The teams played to a wild 4-4 draw in Stockton in the 2023 season opener.
- The Tritons wore their white kits with Barretto in baby blue.
- Game time temperature was 67 with a steady breeze under cloudy skies.

"This one was tough. We had more than enough chances today," said UC San Diego head coach
Kristin Jones '04. "We needed to come into today's match with the intensity and focus we showed on Thursday [a scoreless draw in a Big West match vs. UC Irvine] – and we didn't do that."
