WASHINGTON D.C. – UC San Diego men's soccer drew even in their Saturday matchup against Howard University.
Evan Wellerstein netted his second goal of the season and
Max Carvalho scored the Triton's equalizer in final minutes of the game.
UC San Diego moves to 1-4-3 and Howard moves to 0-4-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both squads remained scoreless in the first half with the Tritons tallying four shots with two on goal. The Bison tallied six with three on goal. UC San Diego earned two corners and committed three fouls, two of which resulted in yellow cards.
Howard struck first in the second half going ahead in the 66th minute. The gold and blue responded in the 71st minute when
Andrew McGee's shot rebounded for a chance for
Evan Wellerstein to bury the equalizer.
Seven minutes later, Howard went ahead again at 2-1. It wasn't until the 88th minute that
Max Carvalho found the back of the net for the Tritons to stave off the loss. The senior's equalizer held for the final minutes as Triton keeper
Nolan Premack made a big save in the 90th minute to keep the tie intact.
