COLFAX, Wash. – Traveling to the NCAA West Regional racecourse, the UC San Diego women's cross country team took fourth place in the field of 13 while the men's team finished eighth out of 14.
Sylvana Northrop continues to lead the Tritons as she finished sixth out of 100.

ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
Leading the women's team to their first program victory over Arizona and a fourth place finish, senior captain
Sylvana Northrop ran another solid race for the Tritons. With a time of 20:41.7, Northrop took sixth place in the field of 100 runners.

The senior was supported by
Emma Dunmire in 20th,
Kelsie Yamano in 30th, and
Christel Elkins in 31st. Dunmire posted a time of 21:20.5, Yamano posted a time of 21:44.8, and Elkins posted a time of 21:44.9.

ON THE MEN'S SIDE
Running a time of 24:30.3,
Charlie Frank led the Triton men to an eighth place finish. Following in 42nd was
Zeno Castiglioni, Evan HIld finished 50th, and
Jordan Haney took 51st.

Commenting on the experience of traveling to the 2024 NCAA West Regional racecourse, head coach Nate Garcia said, "it was a great opportunity to check out the course that will host the regional championship. A very fun competitive course and this experience will be valuable for us in November."
"Our women ran another strong race. Sylvana led the way with a great race against tough competition," he added. "Our newcomers continue to be a great addition to our veteran leaders. We will look to keep this momentum going in a couple weeks. "
About the men's side he said, "our overall score and place was not what we had hoped for. There were strong individual efforts, and Charlie did a good job leading the way for us. We will look to bounce back in a couple weeks in Missouri."

Part of the Triton squads will travel to Missouri for the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri on Sep. 27 and the other part will head to North County for the Cougar Challenge hosted by Cal State San Marcos on Sep. 28.
