Kalpakoff Scores Twice, Tritons Post Clean Sheet in Win Over Nevada

Senior captain Courtney Hilliard adds a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over the Wolf Pack

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Senior forward Raquel Kalpakoff scored a pair of goals and senior captain Courtney Hilliard added a goal and an assist as UC San Diego earned a 3-0 victory over visiting Nevada Sunday afternoon inside Triton Soccer Stadium. Freshman Lana Gilligan notched a pair of assists for UC San Diego (1-3) in the win.

Nevada dropped to 2-2 with Sunday's setback.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego got off to a strong start, breaking through in the sixth minute when freshman Lana Gilligan played the ball in to a cutting Kalpakoff and the senior's touch found the back of the net to put the Tritons up, one-nil. UC San Diego added a second goal in the 32nd minute as junior Lindsey Park fed Gilligan racing up the right side. Her perfectly-placed touch to senior captain Courtney Hilliard gave the home team a 2-0 advantage thanks to Hilliard's header.

The Tritons added their third goal in the 55' as this time it was Hilliard feeding Kalpakoff for the finish. UC San Diego was remarkably efficient, with nine of the Tritons' 15 shots on goal (60%).

On the other end of the pitch, sophomore goalkeeper Ginny Fronk posted a clean sheet, making four saves. The Wolf Pack earned five corners to two for the Tritons.
