LA JOLLA, Calif. – The United States Fencing Coaches Association recognized their 2023-24 academic award winning recipients last week for stellar performances in the classroom and on the strip.
UC San Diego's fencing team was able to take home multiple awards as the women's squad was selected with a combined GPA of 3.65 and the Tritons' men's team also received recognition by posting a 3.43 GPA in the fall and spring. Individually, 15 UC San Diego scholar-athletes were picked as individual award recipients.
All-Academic team honors were presented to those scholar-athletes who had an in-season GPA of 3.3 or higher, while Scholar of Distinction honors earned a GPA of 3.7 or better.

About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of The Big West in NCAA Division I. The 23-sport Tritons earned 30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships during its time in Divisions II and III and helped guide 1,400 scholar-athletes to All-America honors. A total of 84 Tritons have earned Academic All-America honors, while 38 have earned prestigious NCAA Post Graduate Scholarships.
