LA JOLLA, Calif. – Fresh off its first NCAA Division I postseason berth, the UC San Diego men's basketball team will take part in the inaugural Boardwalk Battle in Daytona Beach, Fla. this November. The Tritons will play three games in the eight team, bracketed event which will be held Nov. 21-23 at Ocean Center. UC San Diego's first round opponent will be La Salle from the Atlantic 10.
In addition to UC San Diego and La Salle, other tournament participants include East Carolina, Jacksonville State, James Madison, Stetson, Toledo, and UIC.
Tickets for the Boardwalk Battle are on sale now through Ticketmaster and can also be purchased at Ocean Center box office on game days.
In their final year of an NCAA-mandated four-year reclassification to Division I, UC San Diego posted 20 wins in 2023-24, finishing second in The Big West and earning the second seed in the Ro College Basketball Invitational. Beginning this year, the Tritons are eligible to compete in both The Big West championship and the NCAA tournament.
