RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC San Diego earned its first road victory of the season with a convincing 5-2 Big West win Sunday morning over UC Riverside at SRC Tennis Courts. The win kept the Tritons unbeaten in Division I against the Highlanders while also snapping a four-match slide.

The Tritons got off to a strong start, taking the doubles point from the Highlanders with wins on courts one and three. The tandem of

Grace Gamal were 6-2 winners at No. 1 and
Kelly Leung teamed with
Katelyn Vu for a 6-3 win at No. 3 to clinch the point.

In singles action, UC Riverside evened the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4. Triton freshman
Polina Jorniak spoiled UCR's Senior Day by topping Riverside senior Sydney Tran, 6-4, 6-1 on court five. Leung extended the visitors' lead to 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the third position. Vu sealed the win with her 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 victory at No. 6, and Gamal closed the day with a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 triumph at the second position.
