LA JOLLA, Calif. – At the 31st annual Triton Invitational, UC San Diego's track and field teams posted 15 top five finishes with five first place finishes.
After the invite, 20 seniors were honored for their contributions to the track and field program.
ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
Opening the meet with a win for the gold and blue,
Emma Dunmire snapped her personal record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:54.21. She moves in second on the program's all-time list. The distance squad kept the victories going as
Sylvana Northrop took first in the 1500m running a time of 4:38.95. In the same event,
Stella Gladden ran a time of 4:39.55 to take third.
Amari Jenkins and
Kate MacNaughton represented in the 100m hurdles finishing 8th and 10th respectively. MacNaughton's time moves her into 16th place in the Big West. Placing 6th in the 800m,
Isabelle Shepherd led the Tritons with a time of 2:12.86. This new mark moves her into the five spot on the all-time list.
In the 400m, Maxine Shultz finished 3rd with a time of 54.93.
Lauren Schiele ran a personal best in the same event placing 5th with a time of 55.47. Joining Schultz and Schiele,
Jordyn Thomas was 10th finishing at 57.12.
Idara Ibekwe finished in 10th in the 100m running close to her personal best with teammate
Lauren McBride running a lifetime best of 12.29.
Jenkins posted a personal record in the 400m hurdles, winning the event with a time of 1:00.15.
Gloria Kalt joined her in 6th with a season best and
Kathryn Tamminga finished 9th with her own season best.
Schiele, Thomas, MacNaughton, and Jenkins came together in the 4x400m relay running a time of 3:47.14 to win the event.
Navigating some hard rain in the field on Friday,
Tia Stapleton led the Tritons as she finished third in triple jump with a 11.72m mark.
Julia Di Silvestri placed fourth in the same event with a mark of 11.64m. On Saturday, Di Silvestri took another top five finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.79m for third place.
Tamara Aimufia led in the long jump with a distance of 5.82m. Taking another win, MacNaughton posted a personal record in the high jump earning the win with a jump of 1.72m.
Lauren Pritchard joined her teammate and took third with a jump of 1.62m.
In the women's shot put, Oregon's Jaida Ross broke the collegiate record on Saturday with a measure of 19.71m.
ON THE MEN'S SIDE
Starting it out for the men,
Tate Meaux finished 4th in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:40.43.
Charlie Frank ran a personal record in the 1500m with a time of 3:55.31 to earn the 4th place finish.
Ian Gerth joined his teammate with a 5th place finish at 3:56.35.
Evan Hild finished 10th in the same event. Keeping the distance side going,
Shane Badcock ran a personal best in the 800m to finish 4th with a time of 1:52.34.
On the sprints side,
Anthony Flowers bettered his time in the 100m placing 3rd with a time of 10.62. This time moves him into 13th overall in the Big West. Franky McGowan,
Jake Heinlein,
Jett Collins, and
Liam Urich came together in the 4x400m relay to take fifth with a time of 3:20.15.
In the field, Ian Gammel represented the Tritons in the open shot put and finished 10th. In the elite shot put,
Matthew Amankonah finished 8th in shot put with a measure of 16.61m.
Nathan Tripp joined Amankonah in the event and finished 12th throwing a distance of 15.96m. Representing in pole vault,
Kyle Gibbs tied for the 3rd place finish at a height of 5.01m.
