SAN DIEGO, Calif. – After an impressive opening weekend at the Hornet Invitational last month, the UC San Diego women's rowing team is back in action this weekend close to home as they're set to compete at the 2024 San Diego Crew Classic this weekend at Fiesta Bay-Crown Point Shores in San Diego.
In the team's first race of the season, UC San Diego fielded five boats and were able to accumulate five victories across the competition against both Kansas State and Sacramento State.
Leading the way for the Tritons' team that weekend as the Varsity 8+ squad of:

Matti Key and
Natasha Vallancey earned the CAA's Boat of the Week award on March 20.
UC San Diego's boat was the first team to take home the award during the 2024 season.

- Women's Collegiate Varsity 8+ Cal Cup: April 6 at 9:42 a.m.
- Women's Collegiate Varsity 8+ Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup: April 6 at 10:22 a.m.
- Women's Collegiate 2nd Varsity 8+ Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy: April 6 at 10:38 a.m.
- Women's Collegiate B4+: April 6 at 11:26 a.m.
- Women's Open Carley Copley Cup April 7 at 11:10 a.m.
IDEAL CONDITIONS
Weekend conditions in San Diego is expected to be sunny and comfortable with a high of 60 degrees on Saturday and 61 degrees on Sunday with a light breeze for ideal racing conditions.

ON THE MOVE
After 20 seasons competing as an NCAA Division II team, the entire athletics program is in its final year of transition to NCAA Division I which will culminate in full DI status as a member of the Big West Conference. At that time, all sports will be eligible for conference and NCAA postseason play.
