KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UC San Diego senior guard
Bryce Pope has been named to the NABC Division I All-District 9 First Team, it was announced on Tuesday. The honor was voted on by National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) members across NCAA Division I.
Last week,
Bryce Pope became the first Triton to be named All-Big West First Team. During conference play, Pope ranked third in The Big West in scoring at 19.3 points per contest while leading the league at 36.5 minutes per game. A three-time Big West Player of the Week this season, Pope has started 103 career games and currently sits fourth all-time in scoring in UC San Diego history with 1,611 career points.
Playing in their fourth Division I season, UC San Diego has posted a 21-11 record, finishing second in The Big West with a 15-5 conference mark. The Tritons earned at No. 2 seed in the Ro College Basketball Invitational, which tips Saturday in Daytona Beach. UC San Diego led The Big West in three-pointers per game, fewest turnovers per game, and assist-turnover ratio, among other statistics. The Tritons utilized the same starting lineup in all 32 games – one of just two Division I programs to do so.
Pope is the first Triton recognized as NABC All-District since UC San Diego moved to Division I prior to the 2020-21 season.
