LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego secured a decisive victory over Occidental, 109-51, Saturday afternoon at LionTree Arena. The Tritons improved to 12-2 with the victory, which extended their win streak to ten games – marking their longest streak since transitioning to Division I in 2020. Occidental fell to 4-4 with the setback.
The Tritons featured several standout performers.
Tyler McGhie led the team with 24 points, shooting 8-for-13 from beyond the arc, marking a career-high eight three-pointers. He currently leads the nation with 58 made threes this season.
Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones contributed significantly with 16 points and three steals, showcasing his versatility.
Jasen Brooks was effective from the field, scoring 14 points (doubling his previous career-high) with a 5-for-7 shooting performance, including three 3-pointers.
Justin Rochelin added 11 points and was active defensively with two steals.
Maximo Milovich made his presence felt on the boards and in playmaking, securing 10 rebounds and dishing out six assists.
In addition to individual achievements, the Tritons displayed remarkable team performance. UC San Diego's 59-point first half matched the most points they have scored in a half since moving to Division I in 2020. Furthermore, their 58 three-point attempts set a new program record for most in a single game. The Tritons also demonstrated discipline with only three turnovers, a season low.
