SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – On the road in Santa Barbara, UC San Diego men's soccer fell to No. 22 UC Santa Barbara, 3-1, in the Big West opener.
The Tritons fall to 1-5-4 and the Gauchos improve to 7-2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Striking early,
Max Carvalho gave UC San Diego the lead early in the sixth minute on a loose ball in the box. The Tritons held off the Gauchos through the first 45 minutes after 13 shots with three on goal.
Responding in the second half, the Gauchos went on two quick goals in the 50th and 51st minute. The Tritons were able to put two shots on frame and earned two corner kicks but were unable to equalize.
UC Santa Barbara tallied a third goal in the 77th minute to pull away.
