LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego men's soccer continued their home win streak as they defeated Cal Poly in a 1-0 result on Wednesday night in La Jolla.
UC San Diego improves to 3-2 in Big West play and 4-6-4 overall. The Mustangs move to 2-1-2 in conference play and 5-4-5 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Cal Poly dominated early holding possession for the majority of the first half. The Mustangs entered tonight's matchup undefeated in conference play and had not lost in nine matches. In the 28th minute, the Tritons found purchase as they forced a corner kick and in the confusion of the scrum,
Kai Oppenheim was able to bury the goal.
UC San Diego remained on top as the Mustangs took a total of 12 shots over 90 minutes.
Nolan Premack was critical between the posts for the Tritons as he made two necessary saves and posted his fourth clean sheet of the season. The game turned physical in the second half as five yellow cards were distributed and a red card.
