Tritons in Italy Day Four: On the Way to Florence Via Siena

FLORENCE, Italy – Today was a transition day as we packed up and departed from Rome and made our way to Florence. First, we drove three hours from Rome to the Tuscan hill town of Siena. This picturesque walled city provided a great backdrop for us to stretch our legs and grab some lunch.

We spent two hours in Siena – home of the bi-annual Palio horse race (which we just missed by a couple of days) – eating lunch and walking around the hilly city. Then we made our way back to our busses and drove the final hour to Florence. What a magical city! Both programs enjoyed a team dinner before settling in to our new digs for the night.

Tomorrow, we'll enjoy a walking tour and cultural stop before we play a pair of games in Florence. The men are up first at 5:30 p.m. CEST against Orange Basket Bassano with the women to follow at 8 p.m. against Breidablik Iceland. We'll play the games about an hour from hotel in Florence.

Before we experience Florence, here's a look back at our time in Rome:
