Big West Unveils 2023-24 Conference Schedule

Tritons' fourth Big West slate tips off Dec. 28 at LionTree Arena

LA JOLLA, Calif. — The UC San Diego men's basketball 2023-24 Big West conference schedule has been released, as announced Wednesday by the conference office. This season will be UC San Diego's fourth and final in its NCAA-mandated transition period to NCAA Division I.
 
The 20-game round-robin schedule will see each team play a home-and-home series between Dec. 28 and March 8. With the addition of a week to the playing calendar, The Big West will return to its regular Thursday/Saturday competition format.

The Tritons will begin their fourth season in the Big West on Thursday, Dec. 28, when they host CSU Bakersfield inside LionTree Arena. 
 
The start of the New Year will see UC San Diego hit the road for the first time in conference play when the Tritons visit UC Santa Barbara (Jan. 4) and Cal State Fullerton (Jan. 6). The contest at Fullerton will mark the second-ever for UC San Diego at Titan Gym.
 
The Tritons are back at LionTree for the first of three home games in January when they welcome Long Beach State to La Jolla (Jan. 11). After facing the Beach, the Tritons fly north to visit Cal Poly (Jan. 13). UC San Diego will close out the month of January with two more split weeks. On. Jan. 18, the Tritons play at UC Irvine before returning home to host Hawai'i on Jan. 20. The home-road order flips the following week when UC San Diego welcomes UC Riverside to LionTree on Jan. 25 as part of Spirit Night prior to flying north once again, this time to take on UC Davis (Jan. 27).
 
February begins with a match-up at home against CSUN (Feb. 1) and continues two days later at Long Beach State (Feb. 3). The brief two-game road trip concludes the following Thursday in Honolulu against Hawai'i (Feb. 8). After a bye on Feb. 10, UC San Diego returns to La Jolla for a pair of home contests when the Tritons take on UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 15) and Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 17).
 
UC San Diego plays at Hawai'i on Feb. 9 and will enjoy a Saturday bye on the 11th. On Feb. 15, the Tritons are back home to square off with defending Big West champion Cal State Fullerton. After hosting CSUN on Feb. 18, the Tritons visit UC Davis on Monday, Feb. 20.
 
UC San Diego closes out the month of February with games at UC Riverside (Feb. 22), a home showdown vs. UC Irvine (Feb. 24), and a road match-up at CSU Bakersfield (Feb. 29). The season's final road game will take place at CSUN (March 2). The 2023-24 campaign wraps up the following weekend back at LionTree against UC Davis (March 7) and Cal Poly (Senior Night, March 9).
 
In their third season of Big West play, the Tritons finished with 10 wins overall and five against conference foes. The 2022-23 season marked the third of UC San Diego's NCAA-mandated four-year reclassification period and it was also the first year in which The Big West elected to include the Tritons in the conference standings and statistics.
