EL MACERO, Calif. - UC San Diego men's golf tied for 18th as the El Macero Classic wrapped up Sunday.

UC Davis hosted the three-day, 20-school tournament at El Macero Country Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons finished with a 28-over par 892 after shooting rounds of 304, 294, and 294. In Saturday's second round, they trimmed 20 strokes off of their Friday total and maintained that pace in Sunday's third and final round.

UC San Diego tied for 20th with Pacific.

Freshman Calvin Kong was the Tritons' top finisher, tying for 55th in the 100-player field. He came in six-over par with a 222. Sophomore Davis McDowell was just behind, tying for 58th at seven-over.

Due to their third-round play, McDowell moved up 13 spots in the standings, Kong jumped 12 places, Dougherty improved by seven spots, and Wu gained three spots.

Kong's 72 in the second round was the best of any Triton over the three days.

Seven of the 20 teams concluded the tourney under par.
