HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego got on the board in the top of the first with a solo home run to right field by Halbach—his fourth of the season. The Tritons advanced a runner to third with one out in the second but were unable to bring him home, maintaining the 1-0 lead.

The 'Bows took the lead in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on two hits—all coming with two outs—to jump in front, 5-1. Hawai'i added four more runs the following inning to take a commanding 9-1 lead.

The Tritons got three runs back in the top of the third, after Sudyka drove in two runs with a double to left field and scored on a UH fielding error to make it 9-4. The Rainbow Warriors responded, however, in the bottom of the inning, answering with three runs of their own to build back the eight-run lead, 12-4.

UC San Diego rallied to score two more runs in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Ujimori and a sac-fly by Sudyka to make it 12-6. The Tritons threatened again in the top of the seventh with two runners on with two outs but were unable to cut into the deficit any more.

Hawai'i added to its lead again in the bottom of the seventh, hanging five runs on the board to lead, 17-6.

The Tritons rallied one final time in the ninth inning, getting the first two runners on and scoring on a sac-fly by Kleszcz and a two-out RBI double by Preap. However, the deficit proved too much and UC San Diego dropped its second game of the series.
