HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego finished with a 54-hole total of 885, 33-over par on the par-71, 6,785-yard layout at Goose Creek. The Tritons recorded rounds of 290, 291, and 304 to earn sixth place in the 13-team field.

Wu was playing as an individual and did not figure into the team's scoring. He came away four-over after shooting rounds of 70, 72, and 75 for a total of 217. Wu entered Tuesday tied for seventh following his one-under 70 in Monday's opening round. Wu's 70 was the best round by any Triton over the two days.

Senior Ethan Chen and freshman Nathan Tseng each finished among the top-20, tying for 18th. Both Tritons posted a six-over par 219.

Four Tritons recorded rounds of 71 (-1) including Chen (first round), Tseng (second round), Elliot senior Bunyaviroch (first round), and junior Davis Lee (second round).

Bunyaviroch and sophomore Kyle Dougherty each had eagles, both coming in the second round.

UC San Diego was without Davis McDowell due to injury. McDowell had been the Tritons' top finisher in four of the team's five tournaments leading into The Joust. Last week, the redshirt sophomore won his first collegiate tournament, taking the top spot at the Orange County Collegiate Classic.

No teams finished under par. CSU Fullerton won the team title, coming in at three-over with an 855. The Titans were four strokes ahead of second-place UC Irvine and 10 strokes in front of third-place California Baptist.

Cal State Fullerton's Garrett Boe and California Baptist's Eeli Kujanpaa each finished with a five-under 208 to top the 84-player field. Kujanpa defeated Boe in a two-hole playoff to claim individual medalist honors.

The only other competitor to finish under par was Rei Harashima of UC Irvine, who placed third with a 209 (-4).

The course played to a 75.83 stroke average overall. Tuesday's third round demanded a tournament-high 76.85 stroke average.

QUOTABLE FROM HEAD COACH FRED HANOVER
"We played well in the first two rounds and struggled in the third round today. It was windy and cold and the course was set up with tough pin locations, it was very challenging. Sometimes even your better players are going to have a bad day, that's golf. Not having Davis McDowell in the lineup added to the challenge. Now, were going to focus on hosting our UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines. We're super excited about the location and the fact that we have teams coming from all around the country. I'm looking forward to everyone having a great experience."
