LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego men's soccer fell to Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday night at Triton Soccer Stadium in a 4-1 result.
The Tritons move to 2-7-3 overall and 1-1-1 in Big West play, while the Titans advance to 9-2-2 overall and remain undefeated in conference at 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Striking first, Cal State Fullerton went up 1-0 in the 20th minute. Creating early looks, the Tritons were unable to draw even before the end of the half.
The score remained 1-0 until the 62nd minute when they put away another goal to pull away to 2-0. The Tritons caught a break in the 81st minute when the Titans scored an own goal bringing UC San Diego within one. As the Tritons kept making attempts for the equalizer, the tide turned as the Titans put away two more goals, one in the 86th minute and the final one in the 90th minute.
Over the two halves, the Tritons took 17 shots to the Titans' 12. The gold and blue also took 10 corner kicks – a team season-high – and were unable to convert. UC San Diego was awarded 14 free kicks over the course of the match while Fullerton won eight.
