DAVIS, Calif.—UC San Diego women's volleyball earned its third conference sweep with a 3-0 victory at UC Davis on Thursday evening. The Tritons (14-9, 6-5 Big West) took down the Aggies (11-10, 6-5 Big West) in straight sets, 25-12, 25-14, 25-20, to split the season series 1-1 and moved to 2-4 in the Division I series.

Ava McInnes recorded a match high 15 kills on a blazing .419 hitting percentage and led the Tritons defensively at the net as well with four blocks.
Sabire Karacaova and
Emily McDaniel chipped in seven kills apiece, while Karacaova led the Tritons with 15 digs.
Nevada Knowles recorded her fourth double-double with 15 assists and 10 digs.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons got off to a hot start, jumping out to an 8-2 lead in set one. With UC San Diego leading, 15-7, the Tritons went on a seven-point scoring run to extend their lead, 22-7. UC Davis attempted a late comeback with a 4-0 run of its own, but the Tritons closed out the set easily, 25-12.Â

In the second set, UC San Diego picked up right where it left off, building another early 9-4 lead. The Aggies pulled within three, 13-10, before the Tritons went on a 9-2 scoring run to build a comfortable, 22-12, advantage. UC San Diego scored back-to-back points to close out the set, 25-14, and take a 2-0 lead in the match.Â

After UC Davis took an early, 2-0, lead in the final set, the Tritons rattled off five straight points to jump in front, 5-2. The Aggies answered to pull within one point, but UC San Diego put together a 9-2 run to create space, 14-6.
