KINGSBURG, Calif. - Following two rounds at the Nick Watney Invitational Monday, the UC San Diego men's golf team is tied for 13th.
Fresno State is hosting its annual tournament at Kings River Country Club in California's Central Valley.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego carded rounds of 294 and 287 for a total of 581, 13-over par on the par-71, 6,623-yard course. The Tritons rebounded in the afternoon 18, improving by seven strokes over their morning round. Their 287 was 3-over par.
Sophomore
Davis McDowell is currently inside the top-30, sitting in a tie for 28th. He is just 1-over par after firing rounds of 72 and 71 for a 143. Three other Tritons improved their scores in the second round including
Nathan Tseng,
Jerry Wu, and
Kyle Dougherty.

THE LEADERS
At 21-under par, Long Beach State sits atop the 16-team field. Cal State Fullerton (-15) is second, six strokes behind The Beach at 15-under. The host Bulldogs sit in third place at 12-under par. Grand Canyon (-10) is the fourth and final team to finish the day below par.
There are three Big West teams in the top-5 as UC Irvine is in fifth place.
Ian Gilligan from LBSUÂ is atop the 93-player leader board with a 12-under 130. He holds a three-stroke lead over Nicky Kling from Grand Canyon. A total of 21 players are under par heading into Tuesday's final round.
TRITON TIDBITS
• This is the second-straight year that UC San Diego has played in this tournament.
• Bunyaviroch, Chen, and McDowell all played in last year's Nick Watney, which was held at San Joaquin Country Club.
