SAN DIEGO – In a Saturday night crosstown matchup, UC San Diego fell to San Diego State in their final non-conference game of the season from a second-half goal from the Aztecs.

The Tritons move to 4-3-2 while San Diego State moves to 3-4-2.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trading two shots to the Aztecs' seven in the first half, Tritons'
Dominic Peters made two saves to keep the teams deadlocked through the first 45 minutes of play.
Mason Haubrich put the pressure on early with a shot in the second minute that went just wide. He added another in the 23rd minute that went up and out.
Â
The Tritons opened the second half with two quick shots from
Carter Jacobus and
Alessandro Allen in the fourth and sixth minutes, forcing the SDSU goalie to make a diving save both times. Despite adding five more shots from Allen,
Nick Cirrito, Cooper Lauchenbruch, and
Jake Serpa, the Tritons were unable to put one away. Peters added three more saves to his stat line as the Aztecs took eight shots in the second half. In the 63rd minute, the Aztecs found the back of the net to go up 1-0 to defeat UC San Diego.

QUOTABLE
Head coach
Jon Pascale was happy with the Tritons' performance against their Pac-12 foe saying, "they gave us a lot of different looks and we did the same. It wasn't the result we wanted, but the effort and performance were there all 90 minutes."
Â
Looking ahead to conference play starting on Wednesday, he added, "we are excited to get back to work and build on tonight."
