SAN DIEGO—UC San Diego women's rowing took first in the 2V final and second in the 4+ at San Diego Crew Classic on Sunday on Mission Bay.

The first varsity earned a fifth-place finish in the Collegiate Varsity UCSD Health Cal Cup and the second 4+ finished fourth in the collegiate fours B-entries.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The top eight finished with a time of 7:02, just ahead of USD and MIT and trailing Oklahoma in fourth place by two seconds. Stanford took the top spot with a time of 6:42, followed by Gonzaga and Sacramento State to round out the podium.

The varsity fours placed second in the Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup with a time of 8:21, just ahead of MIT and trailing USD.

It came down the wire between the top three in the Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy final, where the second eight were victorious with a time of 7:16.052. The Tritons narrowly beat out USD (7:16.209) and Sacramento State (7:16.237) by a 00.157 and 00.185 margin respectively.

In the Tritons' final race of the regatta, the second four finished in fourth place with a time of 8:13. Gonzaga (7:25) took the top spot, followed by USD and Oklahoma.

UP NEXT
The Tritons will race Loyola Marymount and the University of San Diego on April 9 in Chula Vista before competing at the WIRA Championships in late April.
