After Dartmouth's Katie Weber and Elizabeth Fahrmeier earned a 6-4 win over
Ella Pachl and
Anu Bhadada at No. 1 doubles, the Tritons fought back with a 6-4 victory of their own at the No. 2 position. The freshmen tandem of
Naomi Nguyen and
Katelyn Vu topped Ashley Hess and Chidimma Okpara. Dartmouth outlasted the UC San Diego team of junior
Rachel Wagner and freshman
Adriana Tabares, 7-5, at third doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The visitors claimed the win with straight set victories at No. 5, 3 and 2. However, the Tritons led in the other three matches that went unfinished. Pachl led 6-4, 4-4 at No. 1, Wagner was up 6-0, 5-4 at No. 4, and junior
Julianna Sabile held a 6-2, 2-5 lead at sixth singles when the match came to an end.

"The final score was not reflective of how hard we fought," said UC San Diego head coach
Liz LaPlante. "Coming off of finals, we were able to focus on the task at hand and really played tough. We've got a difficult road trip ahead but I expect us to build upon today's match."
