LA JOLLA, Calif. – Kicking off a busy home weekend, the Triton men hosted no. 2 Cal Friday afternoon. Competing in 14 events, the Tritons fell to the Bears with a score of 111 to 145.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Battling the entire meet, the Tritons took first in four events and second in three events.
Tyler James,
Luke Pusateri,
Spencer Daily, and
Nate Cunnan finished second to the Bears' 200 yard medley relay team and 0.29 seconds from the pool record. Ending the meet with a win,
Andrija Petkovic,
Nate Cunnan,
Tyler James, and
Spencer Daily took first in the 200 yard freestyle relay breaking the pool record with a time of 1:20.68.

Swimming hard in the 200 yard freestyle,
Ivan Kurakin and
Hayden Johnson took second and third, swimming times of 1:38.36 and 1:38.42 respectively.
Ivan Kurakin went on to swim the 500 yard freestyle, swimming two faster splits than first at the end of a long swim, he took second with a time of 4:29.98.
Andrija Petkovic took second in the 100 yard freestyle, hundredths of a second behind Cal with a time of 44.83. In the 200 yard breaststroke, underclassmen from UC San Diego and Cal battled for first.
Aidan Simpson swam a 2:01.71 to take first while
Luke Pusateri and
Ethan Hildesheim took third and fourth.
Spencer Daily took first in both the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly, swimming a time of 20.05 and 48.47 respectively. The Tritons took the top five spots in the 100 yard butterfly.

UP NEXT
The Triton men will be back home tomorrow to host the Triton Invitational at Canyonview Aquatic Center beginning at 10:00 am. Following that event, the Triton women will be hosting the University of San Diego at 2:00 pm.
