LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's golf team makes its return to The Joust Feb. 21-22.
The 54-hole tournament is hosted by California Baptist at Goose Creek Golf Club in Jurupa Valley. It will feature 15 teams and 87 total players.
Aside from UC San Diego, four other teams out of the Big West Conference will be comperting including Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, UC Riverside, and UC Santa Barbara.
UC San Diego competed in The Joust in 2021 as well, tying for 13th place. Former Triton
Blake Iwaisako was the top finisher, tying for 41st. Also competing for the Tritons were

Davis Lee,
Ethan Chen,
Ryan Vaughan, and
Sergi Mata (played as an individual).
Loyola Marymount topped the 14-team field with an 852, 12-over par. The Lions finished 25 strokes in front of second-place Washington State. The individual medalist was LMU's Gavin Cohen with a 1-under 209. The Lions owned the top-three spots on the leader board at the conclusion of the tourney.Â

After 20 seasons playing as an NCAA Division II team, the entire athletics program has begun a four-year transition to NCAA Division I, culminating in full DI status as a member of the Big West Conference for the 2024-25 academic year. At that time, all sports will be eligible for conference and NCAA postseason play.
