LA JOLLA Calif. – On Friday afternoon, the Tritons hosted Big 10 Wisconsin at the Canyonview Aquatic Center for a dual meet. Both Triton squads fell to the nationally ranked Badgers.
On the men's side, the No. 24 Badgers posted a 189 score to the Tritons 73. On the women's side, the No. 16 Badgers took the victory with a score of 162 vs. the Tritons 99.
ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
Beginning the meet with a victory,
Jordan Phillips,
Katja Pavicevic,
Miranda Renner, and
Tina Reuter took first in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:42.67.
Juli Arzave led the Tritons in the 500 yard freestyle posting a 4:57.54 time to take second. Posting a 57.57 time in the 100 yard backstroke,
Teagan Monroe took third, close behind first and second. Finishing first in the 50 yard breaststroke, Pavicevic topped the seven swimmer heat with a time of 29.36, setting a pool record. Phillips finished second in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 26.53.
Taking first in her third event, Pavicevic posted a 1:02.79 time in the 100 yard breaststroke. Reuter took first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.83 and Renner finished third, posting a time of 24.18. In the 200 yard freestyle, Arzave,
Minh-Nha Kawamura, and
Sophie Francis took second, third, and fourth respectively. Monroe finished second with a time of 25.71 with Renner and Reuter taking third and fourth. Finishing the dual with second place finish, Renner, Phillips,
Aneta Wyzga, and Reuter posted a time of 1:35.21.
ON THE MEN'S SIDE
In the 200 yard medley relay,
Andrija Petkovic,
Luke Pusateri,
Chad Morrison, and
Justin Morsch finished second to the Badgers with a time of 1:31.37.
Devin Esser posted a 4:38.85 time in the 500 yard freestyle to finish third for the Tritons. Taking second in the 100 yard backstroke,
Nathan Lee posted a 50.06 time. In the 50 yard breaststroke, Petkovic finished second with a time of 26.15. With a time of 50.05, Morrison took second in the 100 yard butterfly.
Petkovic took first in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 23.40. Pusateri finished third for the Tritons in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 57.61. Taking first in his fourth event, Petkovic posted a time of 1:37.97 with second finishing four seconds behind him. Finishing third in the 200 yard IM, Cade Bower posted a time of 2:00.49. Taking third to finish the meet,
Aidan Rikic, Petkovic, Morsch, and
Justin Culetu posted a time of 1:25.99 in the 200 yard freestyle.

Bringing in the nationally ranked, Big 10 competition, head coach
Marko Djordjevic commented, "we had a great meet today. It was an amazing experience to host a Big 10 team and to give them a good run in a competitive meet. It was a great learning opportunity for our team."
UP NEXT
Both Triton squads will head north to compete against CSU Bakersfield for a conference competition. The meet is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start at John S. Hillman Aquatic Center in Bakersfield, Calif.
