STOCKTON, Calif. -Â The University of California San Diego women's volleyball team posted its best hitting percentage of the young season Saturday, but it wasn't enough as the Tritons fell, 3-1, to Tarleton State in their final match of the Community Classic tournament.
With the loss, UC San Diego fell to 0-6 in its first season competing at the NCAA Division I level.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Scores from the Alex G. Spanos Center at the University of the Pacific went 25-20, 25-20, 14-25, and 25-19Â in favor of Tarleton State, which improved to 3-1 on the season.
UC San Diego hit .286 with 63 kills and 19 errors in 154 attack attempts. The team's previous best attack this season was .166 (62-30-193) against Marist on Aug. 27.
However, the Triton offense was overshadowed as Tarleton State hit .329 with 58 kills and 10 errors in 146 attempts.Â
For the third time this season, the Tritons finished with more digs than their opponent, holding a 69-59 edge.
Freshman
Zaria Henderson was on fire for UC San Diego, finishing with a match-high 20 kills and a .429 (20-2-42) attack percentage. She also tacked on four digs, two blocks, and a service ace. Two other true freshmen also posted a double-digit kill total as
Emily McDaniel had 14 and
Juliette Bokor had 13. McDaniel hit .423 (14-3-26) and Bokor hit .370 (13-3-27).
Senior setter
Isabela Dobra set a new career-high with 58 assists. Defensively, junior
Naya Dong totaled 16 digs, Dobra was just behind with 15, and senior
Susanna Limb had 12. It was the first double-double of the year for Dobra.
Carmen Kinsey led the Texans with 16 kills, Ana Costas amassed 22 digs, and Lorin McNeil had six blocks, three of those solos.

• Bokor was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 3.1 points, 2.5 kills, and 0.6 blocks while hitting .388 (25-6-49) over three matches.
• It was the first-ever meeting between UC San Diego and Tarleton State.
• Tarleton State is located in Stephenville, Texas.
• UC San Diego's 63 kills are the most in a single match this season.
• Sixteen of 19 players on the Tritons' roster have seen action so far this season.

UP NEXT
UC San Diego plays in its third-consecutive tournament next week when it travels to Albuquerque to compete in the University of New Mexico's four-team event. The Tritons take on Seattle and Southeastern Louisiana on Sept. 10 and UNM on Sept. 11.
