Leading 12-11 in the first set, the Tritons won eight of the next nine points to go up 20-12. The Gauchos answered by taking seven of the next nine points to get back within three at 22-19. UC San Diego was able to close out the frame with a McInnes kill and a pair of UCSB attack errors, one coming on a McDaniel block.

The Gauchos stormed out to an 11-3 lead in the second set and the Tritons could not recover.
