IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West has revealed the preseason poll and preseason All-Conference squad as determined by the conference's head coaches. As the Tritons head into their first year in the Big West, they were picked ninth with 34 points in the coaches poll.
This fall will mark the Tritons' first season competing in NCAA Division I and the Big West Conference after the 2020 campaign was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In its final season as a Division II member in 2019, UC San Diego captured its fifth consecutive CCAA conference tournament title.
The Tritons will open their season on Thursday, August 19 vs. Cal at Triton Soccer Stadium. The match kicks off at 1 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.

About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of the Big West Conference in NCAA Division I. The 23-sport Tritons earned 30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships during its time in Divisions II and III and helped guide 1,400 scholar-athletes to All-America honors.
