Tritons Set for Bill Cullum Invitational in Valencia

UC San Diego's third tournament of the fall season is on tap as the Tritons travel to Los Angeles County for the Bill Cullum Invitational, hosted by CSUN on Monday, October 11 and Tuesday, October 12 at The Oaks Club at Valencia.

The 54-hole tourney features 12 teams and 85 total competitors on the par-72, 7,115-yard course.

Seven Big West Conference squads will be competing including Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Hawaii, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, and UC Santa Barbara.

The tournament was first played in 1996. For 25 years, the event was held at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Ventura County's Simi Valley. This year marks the first time it has changed venues.

The most recent running came in 2019 when San Diego State took the team title and Puwit Anupansuebsai of SDSU was the individual medalist.

Bill Cullum, the tournament's namesake, coached the CSUN men's team from 1965 to 1986 and won three NCAA Division II golf championships and finished second twice. He was named NCAA College-Division Coach of the Year in 1969 and District Eight Coach of the Year in 1970 and 1971. Cullum was inducted to the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame in 1989 and the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.

All action from Valencia can be followed with live scoring.
