BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – The UC San Diego men's water polo team was ranked eighth in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) preseason poll. The Tritons were the second highest team to be ranked in preseason poll from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA). UC Davis placed one spot above the Tritons in seventh while Loyola Marymount placed one spot behind UC San Diego in ninth.
The Tritons finished the 2019 season ranked 12
th in the CWPA standings with a record of 20-8. They played in the WWPA Championship for the ninth year in a row and finished runner-up.

Denny Harper is in his 41
st season at the helm for UC San Diego. During his tenure, the Tritons have won the WWPA tournament 19 times. Harper has been named the WWPA Coach of the Year 19 times and the ACWPC Coach of the Year 16 times.
