LA JOLLA, Calif. – Ten Tritons from the University of California, San Diego men's water polo team were named to the Western Water Polo Association All-Academic team.
To qualify, students must have competed in at least fifty percent of contests, carry over a 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale), be classified as a "full-time" student for all terms of attendance and have completed a minimum of 1 semester or 2 quarters at their institution.
A total of 69 athletes earned WWPA All-Academic. UC San Diego was one of three schools to have double digit scholar-athletes recognized.
The Tritons finished the season 20-8 and made the WWPA tournament final for the ninth year in a row. They eclipsed back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since the 2007 and 2008 season.

After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program begins a new era in 2020 as a member of the Big West Conference in NCAA Division I.
