No. 20 Tritons Look for 10th Straight Win at Chico State

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The No. 20 University of California San Diego women's basketball team will hit the road to face Chico State on Thursday evening, seeking its 10th-consecutive win.

TYLA TRIPLE-DOUBLE TURNER
Tyla Turner recorded a triple-double on Saturday as the Tritons defeated Stanislaus State, 82-54, at home. Turner contributed 13 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 points in the victory. Her triple-double was UC San Diego's second in its Division II era, the first by a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) player this season, and the eighth in Division II this season.

HEAD COACH HEIDI VANDERVEER
A former WNBA coach, Olympic team scout and assistant for the legendary Pat Summitt at the University of Tennessee, Heidi VanDerveer enters her eighth season as the UC San Diego head coach in 2019-20. VanDerveer was named the CCAA Coach of the Year for the fourth-consecutive season in 2018-19 as well as the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) West Region Coach of the Year for the second-straight year.

The Tritons will head home after this for their final homestand of the regular season. UC San Diego will host Cal State Dominguez Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 and Cal State LA at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 for Pink Night and Senior Night.

BIG WEST BOUND
UC San Diego is in its 20th and final year playing as an NCAA Division II team. In July of 2020, the entire athletics program will begin a four-year transition to NCAA Division I, culminating in full DI status as a member of the Big West Conference for the 2024-25 academic year. At that time, all sports will be eligible for conference and NCAA postseason play.
