RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The University of California San Diego men's tennis team fell to future Big West opponent UC Riverside, 6-1, in an exhibition on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sixth singles was the highlight of the exhibition for the Tritons.
Phillip Lan fended off his Highlander opponent in set one, 6-4. Lan then cruised to victory in set two, blanking his counterpart 6-0.
Sahm Irvine nearly forced a tiebreaker at second singles. After falling in set one, 2-6, Irvine rallied to make it close in set two, but ultimately fell, 7-5.
The Tritons were unable to top the Highlanders in doubles. Third doubles was the closest of the afternoon, as
Marc Isaia and Lan battled the Blando brothers, Jayson and Michael. The Tritons were within two, but suffered a 6-4 defeat.

Next, the Tritons will prepare to officially open their season. UC San Diego will host Point Loma at 3 p.m. on Feb. 5 at the Northview Tennis Courts.
