HOW IT HAPPENED
In doubles, the Aztecs claimed their first win of the afternoon as Marc Isaia and Zach Ermert suffered a 6-2 loss to Rafael Gonzalez and Jan Kirchhoff.

At third doubles, Phillip Lan made his first collegiate appearance with the Tritons, teaming up with Sahm Irvine. The pair battled their Aztec opponents, but ultimately fell, 6-4.

Like Lan, Cody Duong played in his first exhibition match as a Triton. Duong fought hard in the first set, but was upended, 7-5, 6-1.

The highlight of afternoon was Neil Tengbumroong's victory at #4 singles. Tengbumroong clinched a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Ignacio Martinez of San Diego State.

COACH'S THOUGHTS
"I was happy with our doubles performance," said Head Coach Timmer Willing. "I felt that when we get more match play, we will improve quickly.

"We have had a great two weeks of practice so hopes were high going in. I felt in singles we started strong at most positions, but once we dropped the first set we didn't respond well or didn't know how to handle the changes necessary. It was a good start against a very good team to help us learn what needs to be done."
