LA JOLLA, Calif. – The University of California San Diego had 26 scholar-athletes earn a spot on the 2019 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Fall All-Academic Team. The conference announced its honorees Thursday morning.
The CCAA recognizes individuals academically each season (fall, winter and spring) for all conference-sponsored sports. In order to earn CCAA All-Academic team honors, a scholar-athlete must be of sophomore athletic standing or higher, and own a 3.3 cumulative GPA or better while competing in a conference-sponsored sport for that season. The CCAA Fall All-Academic Team consists of eligible student-athletes who compete in the sports of men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball.
A total of 351 men and women from across the CCAA's 13 member institutions were acknowledged for their efforts in the classroom.
For the Tritons, women's soccer garnered the most selections with 10, followed by cross country and men's soccer with six apiece and women's volleyball with four. Of the 26 UC San Diego recipients, six Tritons are two-time honorees.
Sam Blake (men's cross country),
Natalie Saddic (women's soccer), and
Alyson Penrose (women's volleyball) are all three-time award-winners.
