Men's Water Polo Splits Final Day of Princeton Invite

PRINCETON, New Jersey – The No. T-9 University of California, San Diego men's water polo team split the final day of the Princeton Invitational to finish the weekend 3-1. The Tritons handled No. 14 Bucknell 14-7 before dropping a close game to No. T-12 Harvard 12-11.

The Tritons will stay on the road and face Fresno Pacific Friday, Sept. 20 at 5:00 p.m.

VS BUCKNELL

The Tritons started with a back-in-forth first quarter that resulted with a 3-2 UC San Diego lead. But the Tritons pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring the Bison 6-1 in the second quarter.

The defense stood strong to open up the second half and limited the Bison to one goal in the third quarter while the Tritons chipped in three. UC San Diego went into the final frame with a seven point cushion that proved to be too much to overcome for Bucknell.

Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt and Calder Hilde-Jones spearheaded the offense with hat tricks. Kaden Likins added a pair of goals as well for the Tritons.

VS HARVARD

The Crimson and the Tritons were neck-in-neck throughout the first half with the Tritons taking a 6-5 lead going into halftime. Harvard swung the momentum of the game in its favor, outscoring UC San Diego 5-2 in the third quarter.

Skyler Munatones scored two of his three goals in the final quarter to rally the Tritons and Konstantin Karlov sank his third of the day to make it a one-point game with ten seconds left. But Harvard would cling onto the lead to claim victory over the Triton
