Sonoma State Shuts Down Wildcats To Advance In NCAA Tournament

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Sonoma State pitcher Brielle Vidmar limited Central Washington's offense to just four hits en route to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Wildcats to advance in the NCAA Division I Softball West Regional Saturday afternoon at Triton Softball Field.

Sonoma State improved to 36-19 on the season and advanced to face regional host UC San Diego in an elimination game at 6:30 p.m. Central Washington concluded its season with a 33-20 overall record.

Vidmar registered five strikeouts in going the distance to earn her 20th win on the season against just eight losses.

Catcher Jordann White went 2-for-4 at the plate and knocked in thre runs to lead Sonoma State offensively. She was one of five Seawolves to register multi-hit games. Right fielder Alee Balanon accumulated a game-high three hits in her four at-bats.

Sonoma State took the lead with a run in the bottom of the second inning and added a second in the third. The Seawolves added three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the victory.
