LA JOLLA, Calif. – Behind a season high 17 three-pointers, the eighth-ranked UC San Diego men's basketball team topped Sonoma State, 84-69, at RIMAC Arena on Thursday. It was a back-and-forth affair over the game's first 10 minutes, with the teams trading buckets. Sonoma State built a five-point edge during that stretch, but then the UC San Diego offense caught fire. The Tritons sprinted out on a 16-5 run over a 3:24 stretch – connecting on four 3-pointers – to take a 42-24 lead.

Â
UC San Diego began the second half much in the same way it ended the first. The Tritons went on a 12-2 run to take a 63-34 lead with 16:42 to go in the second. Sonoma State chipped away but got no closer than 14.
Â
Hadley finished with a game-high 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Oshita chipped in 18, sophomore guard
Tyrell Roberts had 16 points and five assists, and Sullivan finished with 13 points and eight boards.
Â
UC San Diego took advantage of 17 Sonoma State turnovers, leading to 33 Triton points. UC San Diego was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line in the win.
Â
Isaac Davidson was Sonoma State's leading scorer with 14 points.
UC San Diego closes out 2019 when the Tritons travel to Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday afternoon to face the Broncos, who are receiving votes in the latest NABC coaches top 25 poll. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. from Kellogg Arena.
