LA JOLLA, Calif. – University of California San Diego redshirt senior forward Christian Oshita was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday. Oshita averaged 21 points and 8.3 rebounds as the fourth-ranked Tritons went 3-0 last week, with wins over No. 24 Point Loma and a pair of CCAA foes, Cal State San Marcos and Cal State San Bernardino.
 
Oshita scored 23 points and matched his career high with 15 boards in the win over the Sea Lions Tuesday night. On Sunday at San Bernardino, Oshita scored 34 points -- one shy of his career high -- on 10-15 shooting and 6-9 from long range.
 
For the week, Oshita shot 21-35 (.600) overall, 12-19 (.632) from beyond the three-point arc, and 9-11 (.818) from the free throw line as UC San Diego improved to 6-0 on the season.
 
Oshita leads the CCAA in three-point field goal percentage this season, connecting on 54.3% of his attempts -- 19-for-35 -- from beyond the arc. He is the second UC San Diego player to capture the award this season, joining redshirt senior Chris Hansen, who was the Player of the Week in week 1.
 
The fourth-ranked Tritons return to action on Friday night, when they face Holy Names in the first round of the NDNU Thanksgiving Classic. UC San Diego concludes the tournament Saturday when the Tritons take on host Notre Dame de Namur.
