LA JOLLA, Calif. - Christian Oshita registered game-highs with 17 points and nine rebounds as the University of California San Diego men's basketball team cruised to a 72-50 league win against Cal Poly Pomona Friday night at RIMAC Arena.
With its fifth consecutive victory, UC San Diego improved to 20-5 overall and 15-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The 15 conference wins ties the team's most since joining the league for the 2000-01 season.
The Tritons made 49 percent (21-43) of their shots and held the Broncos to 36 percent (19-53). They also out-rebounded their opponent, 37-28. UCSD led for almost the entire game, trailing just once in the opening two minutes of play.
Oshita was 5-for-7 with a three-pointer while hitting all six of his free throws. The nine boards were a career-best for the sophomore guard. He also added a pair of assists in 26 minutes on the floor.
Two other Tritons hit double figures in points as Aleks Lipovic finished with 16 and Chris Hansen had 12. Lipovic drained four treys and dished out four assists, while Hansen was 4-for-5 from the floor and hauled in seven boards. Adam Klie had eight points, eight rebounds, four assists and a steal.
