TURLOCK, Calif. - Adam Klie scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds, both game-highs, to lift the University of California San Diego to a 72-54 win at Stanislaus State Friday night in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) men's basketball action.
UC San Diego improved to 15-4 on the season and 10-2 in the CCAA. Stan State dropped to 6-13 and 3-9.
UCSD led most of the game as a three-pointer by Anthony Ballestero at the 15:19 mark of the first half put the Tritons up 8-7 and they would not trail again. They were up by as many as 17 in the opening frame and 25 in the second half.
"It feels good anytime we can get a win on the road," said UCSD head coach Eric Olen. "We had contributions from a lot of different guys tonight and I'm really pleased with our performance."
Klie was 7-for-11 shooting with one three-pointer while hitting five of his seven free throw attempts. It was the fifth time this season that the senior guard totaled at least 20 points. He also added seven assists, one short of his career-high.
Two other Tritons finished in double figures with George Buaku netting 12 and Christian Oshita scoring 11. Buaku and Ballestero each drilled three three-pointers, while Oshita hit a pair. Buaku was 4-for-4 from the field. Joshua Brooks and Kenny Fraser each ended up with six points and Fraser hauled in five rebounds.
UC San Diego shot 46.6 percent (27-58) for the game and made 11 treys, eight of those coming in the first half. The Tritons held a 31-27 edge in rebounding with the four-board difference coming on the offensive glass.

Stanislaus shot 41.3 percent (19-46) and made only 10 of its 20 free throws. The Warriors turned the ball over 14 times, leading to 16 Triton points.
UCSD swept the regular season series as it also defeated Stan State, 67-57, on Dec. 30 at RIMAC Arena.
UC San Diego faces a huge test at No. 23 Chico State (17-3, 10-2) Saturday, with the two squads tied for first place in the CCAA. The Tritons and Wildcats met back on Dec. 1 in La Jolla as Chris Hansen scored a game-high 21 points to lead UCSD to a 60-56 victory.
