LA JOLLA, Calif. - In the first-ever California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Volleyball Tournament, host UC San Diego knocked out Cal State L.A., 3-1, in a quarterfinal match Thursday at RIMAC Arena. Scores were 25-22, 25-21, 20-25 and 25-15.

Third-seeded UCSD (19-10) advances to take on second-seeded and 19th-ranked Cal State San Bernardino in a semifinal Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Danielle Dahle (La Mesa/Grossmont HS) led all players with 19.0 points on 19 kills. Two Tritons recorded double-doubles. Meagan Wright (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) had 17 kills and 15 digs, while Heidi Sierks totaled 50 assists and 14 digs. Sierks also added four blocks. Amanda Colla (Carlsbad/San Dieguito Academy) had a match-best 20 digs.

CSULA (19-11), the sixth seed in the tourney, got a match-high 22 kills from Iona Lofrano, who also had 13 digs.

The Tritons hit .238 (61-21-168), while the Golden Eagles swung at .188 (51-21-160).

UC San Diego is 3-0 against Cal State L.A. this season with sweeps on Nov. 14 and Sept. 25.

Cal State San Bernardino (25-4) swept seventh-seeded Stanislaus State in another quarterfinal Thursday to stay alive in the tournament. The Tritons have gone 1-1 against the Coyotes in 2015.

In other quarterfinal action, No. 1 Sonoma State beat No. 8 Chico State and Cal Poly Pomona, the fourth seed, downed fifth-seeded SF State.

SSU and CPP clash in a 5 p.m. semifinal Friday at RIMAC Arena.
